Roullette Betting Strategy: How to Win at Roulette, Casino Betting Systems

Roullette is a game of chance in which every outcome of the roulette wheel is totally random and there is no pattern to be discovered. There isn't so much a roulette strategy of play as there is a roulette betting strategy. For the most part, these roulette strategies harp on what is perceived as the higher probability of certain roulette betting types, or numerical conditions, to yield a profitable result.

Roulette beginners will likely encounter the Martingale Betting System and Fibonacci Betting System while learning how to win at roulette. They're not strictly considered as strategy by roulette experts but you can visit our separate page on Roulette Betting Systems.

Betting one color. The roulette wheel layout shows 18 red-colored pocket numbers and 18 black-colored pocket numbers, easily providing the misconception this strategy offers a 50% chance of winning. In truth, you are likely to win less than half the time, given one or two green pockets numbered zero to tip the scales in favor of the house.

18 reds (or 18 blacks) out of 38 total pockets yield a probability of 47.37%, or 99% to hit in at least 10 spins. This is computation based on normal distribution, despite that each roulette spin is independent of the last one or next one. Besides, the break-even is 19 spins, and since betting only on red is a 1:1 bet, 19 red spins out of 38 has a chance of only 37%.

Betting on green is also mistakenly believed as advantageous. It springs from the notion that the green zeroes are house numbers, and so betting on them gives you the house advantage in roulette. It is true the greens are the house edge in that, without them, the roulette wheel is an even 18 red and 18 black numbers. But again, as each spin is random, no color is more likely to come up than another.

Betting multiple times. This strategy combines the red/black and odd/even bets, with the basic idea that you have an almost 50% probability (barring the green zeroes) to break-even by winning one bet and losing another. Or a 25% probability you win both the red/black and odd/even bets.

You bet 1 each on red and odd, or black and even, separately. When one bet loses, you double it, and when one bet wins, you bring it back to 1 bet. Even in theory, you will have to play an extremely lengthy game in order to chase your chances, and even so, this strategy does not remove the house edge provided by the green numbers.

As in any random game, your best bet as roulette betting strategy is to manage your wins and losses. Learn smart money management on Roulette Gambling Tips.
